Split payments and payment plans

These terms cover paying for an order in a group, or over time, on TKT. They are written to be read, and every figure below is the one the system applies. By paying a share, joining a split or accepting a plan, you agree to them.

01

The short version

Everything that matters, in six lines.

  • A split reserves seats. It does not buy them. The order is final only when every share is paid.
  • Your money is held on the platform until the order completes. It is not released early.
  • A 5% service fee applies to each payment. Your mobile money or card provider may charge you separately.
  • You own your own payment and your own refund. You are never liable for anyone else's share.
  • If the deadline passes with the order unpaid, you are refunded what you paid less a 11% reservation fee.
  • The organiser runs the event and decides refunds for it. TKT runs the platform and processes them.

Why nothing is released early. Because the money stays on the platform until the order completes, a refund on an incomplete order comes out of funds already held. Nobody has to chase anyone to get you paid.

02

Who does what

TKT sells the ticket. The organiser runs the event.

TKT Systems Ltd operates the platform: checkout, payment handling, ticket issuing and delivery, and entry support. TKT is not the organiser, the promoter or the venue.

The organiser is responsible for the event itself, including whether it happens, the line-up, timings, staffing, security and conditions of entry. Your contract for attending is with them, not with TKT.

Purchase Policy §1, Terms of Use

03

How a split works

Reserving seats, not buying them.

Someone creates a split for an order. The seats are reserved and taken off sale. Everyone invited is asked for a share, and the order is final only once every share is paid before the deadline.

Tickets are issued at that point, not before. An order is accepted when payment has cleared and we send a confirmation.

BNPL Terms §3

04

Your money is yours

Worked out per person, never pooled.

Every refund is worked out from what you personally paid, using our payment records. Nothing is calculated at group level and divided up afterwards.

Contributions are payments towards an order. They are not a loan to the organiser, to the group or to us, they are not a deposit with a financial institution, and they do not earn interest.

Only pay through TKT. We never ask you to send a split payment to a personal mobile money number. If someone asks, it is not us. Check the event, the organiser, the amount and the deadline on the page before you pay.

BNPL Terms §4, §11

05

Fees

5% on each payment, plus whatever your provider charges.

A service fee of 5% applies to each payment made through TKT. It covers handling that payment, allocating it to the order and keeping the record, and it is shown before you confirm.

Because it is charged per payment, a deposit and three instalments are charged four times. It still adds up to 5% of the order, so splitting a payment or paying over time costs no more in service fees than paying once.

BNPL Terms §7, Purchase Policy §3

06

Deadlines

Firm, and set by the event.

Collection closes 3 days before the event, whatever day the split was opened. Opening one close to the event gives it less time, not a later deadline.

A payment counts when it has arrived and been allocated, not when you started it. Mobile money can take a few minutes and bank transfers longer, so leave room.

BNPL Terms §8

07

If the deadline passes

You get back what you paid, less 11%.

The reservation ends, the seats go back on sale, and every contributor is refunded individually.

A reservation fee of 11% of what was paid in is retained. Those seats were held off sale for the whole reservation, so nobody else could buy them, and the fee is the charge for holding them.

The example from the terms
A table priced at
UGX 800,000
Two people pay
UGX 100,000 each
Total paid in
UGX 200,000
Reservation fee (11%)
− UGX 22,000
Each person gets back
UGX 89,000

Less the service fee already charged on their payment.

BNPL Terms §9

08

If the seats are withdrawn

93% of what you paid comes back.

An organiser can withdraw reserved seats before an order completes, for instance when a venue layout changes or a licence requires it. That is their decision under their own policy.

You get 93% of what you paid. The other 7% covers the processing and handling already spent on collecting it. The reservation fee does not also apply.

BNPL Terms §10

09

Refunds

The organiser decides. We process.

Outside the split rules above, tickets are sold final. A completed order is not refunded, returned or exchanged for a change of mind, a missed event, late arrival, travel or accommodation trouble, or a clash in your own diary.

Where an event is cancelled, postponed or materially changed, whether a refund, credit or exchange is offered is decided by the organiser under their own refund policy, the terms shown for that event, and the law. TKT processes what they approve, and processing it does not transfer their responsibility to TKT.

Two different rules, and which one applies. Before the order completes, the split rules on this page decide what comes back. After it completes, the organiser's refund policy for the event decides.

What we handle directly, whatever the organiser decides:

  • A payment that failed or arrived after the split closed. Nothing is charged, and anything taken comes straight back.
  • A duplicate charge for the same payment, refunded in full including its fee.
  • A payment you can evidence that has not reached your order. We trace it, then allocate or refund it.

Refunds go back to the account the payment came from. If that account is closed we will ask you to verify another one in your name.

Working out a refund and sending it are separate steps. We tell you which has happened, and we never say a refund has been sent while the money is still with us. Mobile money is usually minutes once it leaves; cards and bank transfers take several working days, decided by your bank.

Purchase Policy §5, §6, §18

10

Buy Now Pay Later

Reserve now, pay over time, on a schedule you accept.

A plan reserves the seats immediately and spreads the cost over a deposit and scheduled payments. The seats are still reserved rather than sold, and tickets are issued when the plan is fully paid.

The deposit is at least 20% of the order. Above that floor you choose it, along with how many payments follow — up to 6 — and how many days apart they fall. The only other limit is the calendar: a plan has to be fully paid 7 days before the event.

You see the whole schedule, including the 5% on each payment, before you accept it.

BNPL Terms §13

11

Your ticket

A licence to attend, on the terms of the event.

A ticket is a limited, revocable licence to attend. It does not give you ownership of a seat, a table, a parking bay or a hospitality space beyond that event.

Delivery is by email, message, wallet pass or in your account. Keep your contact details accurate and check that you can present the ticket in the format asked for.

At the gate:

  • The first valid scan is admitted. A later attempt on the same ticket is rejected.
  • You may be asked for identification, the matching phone number or the payment method used.
  • Entry is subject to the organiser's and the venue's rules, including screening, prohibited items, age limits and conduct.

A ticket can be cancelled if it is duplicated, altered, obtained fraudulently, charged back, or transferred against the rules of the event. Reselling anywhere other than TKT can cancel it without a refund.

Whether a ticket can be transferred at all depends on the event. Some are identity-linked or restricted to a named person.

Purchase Policy §7 to §13

12

Checks and security

What we verify, and what we can pause.

Use only a payment method you are entitled to use. We and our payment partners may verify payment, identity, device and transaction information before, during or after checkout.

To protect everyone, we may:

  • Pause a split, a payment or a refund while we investigate something suspicious.
  • Ask you to verify your identity before releasing a refund or completing an order.
  • Refuse a payment, cancel a reservation, or decline an order where we find fraud, a pricing or technical error, or a duplicate.

Purchase Policy §4, §16

13

Before you confirm

What is yours to check.

Once an order is placed it usually cannot be changed, so check:

  • The event, the date and time, and the venue.
  • The ticket type, the quantity, and any seat or section detail.
  • The price, the fees and the total payable.
  • Your share and the deadline, if you are joining a split.
  • How the ticket will be delivered, and any conditions shown for that event.

Purchase Policy §15

14

Records and disputes

Every movement is logged, and you can see your own.

Every payment, refund and status change is written to our ledger and audit log. You can see your own history at any time, and most disagreements are settled by looking at it.

If something is wrong, write to us first and we will try to resolve it within thirty days. After that a dispute may go to arbitration in Kampala. Claims are brought individually rather than as part of a group or class action, so far as the law allows.

Disputes about who owes whom inside a group are between the people in it.

BNPL Terms §19, §26

15

What we are responsible for

The platform, not the party.

TKT reserves inventory, collects and allocates payments, keeps the record, issues and delivers tickets, and processes refunds. Everything about the event itself belongs to the organiser.

We are not responsible for an organiser's decisions, for a payment provider's downtime, or for travel and accommodation costs if an event changes. If a reservation ends for any reason, the refund set out in these terms is your remedy.

Nothing here removes a right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be signed away. Where the law gives you more than these terms do, the law wins.

Terms of Use, Purchase Policy §19

16

Changes and contact

Your split keeps the terms it started on.

We update these terms as the product changes. The version in force when a split or plan is created governs it through to the end, so a change to a fee cannot reach backwards into something you already agreed to.

TKT Systems Ltd, Plot 67A, Spring Road, Bugolobi, Level 2, Guardian Building, Kampala. Questions and complaints go to info@ticket.ug.

These terms sit alongside the TKT Terms of Use, the Purchase Policy and the Privacy Policy. Where a condition shown for a specific event conflicts with them, that condition applies to that event only.
